At any rate, the Austrians built a museum out of the prison Schiele was put into for doing his drawings. About 45 min by train in Tulln Austria. Schiele drawings cannot be displayed on the web anymore according to Clintons Communications act. So maybe we are going to convert all those empty art Galleries into prisons. The Austrians are already laughing. Stan Pierce: I know nothing about Schiele or the Museum in Austria but you have now made me care about the reach of American law.Why should you worry about what Clinton wants banned from the net when you are in Austria?.I vaguely remember a word from way back that sounded like Sovereignty.Does American law control the electronic pulses emanating from another country. josef, biavadaumpfa: heast, denan austrians mim kaengaruu iss lochn scho vagaungan; woats net es in .edu amoi des laund da grossn freiheit... oda seids no imma so wias seinazeit ois pilgrimfatherss ausn schiffal aussegraeut seids? fria hods ghoassn: "freedom's just another word for nothing left to loose" (janis joplin) und iatzt? lost every"think" already? hoits de uan steiff, an woedschbrochla bringt nix unta ... josef, biavadaumpfa, oft froh, dass a net in .edu lebn muass...obwoi es laund sei grossa draum is! Jan Marica: >Looks like there aren't too many Schiele fans out there .... too >bad. Well, here's one. I love his stuff. I was very lucky and got to see the show that was traveling around the US last year. Being in Hawaii has it's disadvantages, but I happened to be in San Diego when his show was there. Great Shit. >At any rate, the Austrians built a museum out of the prison Schiele >was put The best thing to do about a stupid law like this one is to ignore it. Fuck! Breast! Vagina! Penis! Take that Clinton. (what a poor excuse for a leader) Anyway onwards and upwards. Long live the revolution. Long live art. smeier@avana.net: >>Looks like there aren't too many Schiele fans out there .... too >>bad. >Well, here's one. Here's another. I was in school in Vienna Summer of '85, the "Traum und Wirklichkeit" exhibition (I've probably slaughtered that, I don't get to use my German much anymore), and it had a great impact on me. Schiele's work really made me stop and look hard, and think quite a bit about his time and the world around him..... Continue to ignore the censorship of the internet! How're they ever gonna make that one stick?? Marie Elisabeth Peddinghaus: just wanted to mention that I went to see the Schiele exhibit when I was in Duesseldorf over the Winter Break. It was really well planned out. Mostly, however, I appreciated to prices on the posters (about 10 deutsche marks which is about 6 dollars). Is there ever going to be an exhibit in the US, specifically near Chicago? jthomsett@aol.com (JThomsett): Is it true...that a new movie is being made about Scheile? Anyone ever try working in his style? Anyone do copious amounts of self-portraits? Scheile's almost #1 on my favorite artist list. Roald Euller: >Scheile's almost #1 on my favorite artist list. So who *is* #1 ;-) orionb@shell.portal.com (Orion) >Schiele drawings cannot be displayed on the web anymore according >to Clintons Communications act. So maybe we are going to convert >all those empty art Galleries into prisons. The Austrians are >already laughing. now come on, let's give credit where it's due. it's not "Clinton's" CDA; the fault belongs to just about everyone in Washington (except those brave souls who voted against it)... and you'd be a fool to think that any of the Republican presidential candidates would have done any different. Besides, nobody in the US is even planning on doing anything different because of this bill, let alone the rest of the world.
